Hip hop music is a contemporary genre of music, known for its funky beat and rapping vocals.

While the term was never formally referenced, the Wyclef Jean song "We Trying to Stay Alive", heard during a party on the USS Discovery in "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad", was identified as hip hop music in subtitles.

Other songs which might be considered hip hop today were heard in various productions, including the Public Enemy song "Fight the Power", and the Beastie Boys songs "Body Movin'" and "Sabotage". However, the latter song was described as classical music in-universe.
