The Huron-type was a small 23rd century Federation starship identified as a freighter.
Specifications[]
This class of vessel was commonly used during the 2260s and 2270s to transport such cargoes as dilithium. It was capable of operating with a crew of as few as three. Susceptible to pirate attacks, this class was significantly inferior to an Orion vessel. (TAS: "The Pirates of Orion")
Design[]
The Huron-type was rather complicated in overall design, compared to contemporary vessels of the era.
It was constructed on a horizontal spaceframe with the standard two-nacelle configuration. Jutting below the main spaceframe, were the ship's cargo holds. The bridge was located in the upper foremost position of the vessel. Several nacelle-like extremities were located on the ship's forward most section.
The Huron-type was significantly inferior, in both speed and firepower, to the contemporary Orion pirate vessels of the time. (TAS: "The Pirates of Orion")
Interior[]
Main bridge[]
The Huron-type bridge could be maintained by a crew of as few as three. The bridge, which did not possess a captain's chair, had a forward console for both the navigator and helmsman facing the viewscreen. Facing the rear bulkhead of the bridge was an aft console with a single chair. (TAS: "The Pirates of Orion")
Cargo hold[]
This class of vessel possessed large cargo holds capable of transporting such cargo as dilithium. (TAS: "The Pirates of Orion")
Ships of the class[]
The USS Huron is the only known ship to use the "F" letter prefix in the registry number, NCC-F1913.
