The Hyperion Water Treatment Plant, or formally Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant, is the largest sewage treatment plant in Los Angeles.
It was used as a filming location for the Star Trek: Enterprise pilot "Broken Bow", standing in for Rigel X. The scenes involving the plant were filmed on 22 May 2001. Another location standing in for Rigel X was the Redondo Power Plant. ("These Are the Voyages..." text commentary, ENT Season 4 DVD)
Operating since 1894, the current treatment plant became operational in 1950. It has served as a filming location since the 1950s, in movies such as Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, Head, Battle for the Planet of the Apes, Soylent Green, The Terminator, and Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie as well as television series like Cannon.
