Ian Chriss (born 26 March 1976; age 48) is a visual effects grip, electrician, and technician who worked first for Industrial Light & Magic and currently for its off-shoot practical effects company, Kerner Optical. For the latter, Chriss is serving as the Visual Effects Best Boy Grip on Star Trek.

Chriss joined ILM around 2002 and became an electrician on The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions (both of which featured Anthony Zerbe). He was then a rigging electrician on Twisted (starring Ashley Judd, Leland Orser, and Titus Welliver), as a grip on XXX: State of the Union, and as a lighting balloon technician on Rent.

As part of Kerner Optical's team, Chriss has worked as a grip or electrician on such films as Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007, featuring Lee Arenberg, Vanessa Branch, and Greg Ellis, Transformers (2007, written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci), Eagle Eye (executive produced by Kurtzman and Orci), National Treasure: Book of Secrets (featuring Bruce Greenwood), and Paramount Pictures' Indiana Jones the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Outside of his work for ILM and Kerner, Chriss has provided services to such film productions as Memoirs of a Geisha, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Zodiac. He has also worked on television productions such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In addition, Chriss and fellow Kerner employee Richard Demolski both worked as grips on the film Bottle Shock, which, like 2009's Star Trek, starred Chris Pine.
