(written from a Production point of view)
Klingons vs. Klingons – with Kirk in the middle!
In the Name of Honor is a Pocket TOS novel – #97 in the numbered series, and the last Original Series numbered novel – written by Dayton Ward. Published by Pocket Books, it was first released in January 2002.
- From the book jacket
- Delicate peace talks between the Federation and the Klingon Empire become complicated when Captain Kirk discovers that Starfleet prisoners of war are being held captive on a remote jungle planet. Now, with the unexpected assistance of an old adversary, Kirk embarks on a daring rescue mission, knowing that if he fails, the Federation will deny all knowledge of his intentions.
- But powerful forces within the Klingon government are determined to keep the shameful secret of the hostages' existence, even if it means obliterating every last trace of the prisoners – and anyone who comes to save them!
- This was Dayton Ward's first full-length Star Trek novel.
- Pocket Books editor John Ordover originally had plans to end the numbered novel series with a trilogy by Diane Carey, tentatively titled The Last Round-Up, which would have made up #98-100. However, this did not come to fruition, and Ward's book ended up closing the series.
