An incubation pod was a device that provided care for infants. Such pods were used by the Borg for young drones and by Xindi-Insectoids for fetal Insectoids, otherwise known as "hatchlings". (ENT: "Hatchery"; VOY: "Collective")
In the case of the Xindi-Insectoids, incubation pods were small chambers in the walls of a hatchery, aboard a Xindi-Insectoid starship. Each pod contained several eggs and was illuminated with a white light that began to pulsate when the eggs were ready to hatch. (ENT: "Hatchery")
In 2376, on a Borg cube crewed only by five neonatal drones, Seven of Nine removed an infant from a failing maturation chamber. She intended to place it in an incubation pod, but the pod was malfunctioning and she had to transport it to the USS Voyager. (VOY: "Collective")
