Indri VIII was the L-class eighth planet in the Indri system. It was uninhabited, neutral, and had no strategic importance whatsoever. The planet was covered by deciduous vegetation until 2369, but possessed no animal life or evidence of past or present civilization.

The planet became known to the United Federation of Planets in the 2300s when it was visited by starships.

Indri VIII was one of the planets seeded with part of a genetic program by the ancient humanoids 4.5 billion years ago. In 2369, the IKS Maht-H'a collected a DNA sample from Indri VIII, then destroyed the planet's lower atmosphere with a plasma reaction. All life on the surface was extinguished, precluding any others from collecting a sample. (TNG: "The Chase")

In "The Chase", the location of Indri VIII was pointed out by Richard Galen from a star chart. The location was in what is usually identified as the Beta Quadrant.
