Islam was a Human religion, one of Earth's primary faiths as of the mid-21st century, centering on the deity Allah. It could be symbolized by a star within a crescent moon.
After the red angel transported a group of Humans in the East Fork Presbyterian Church from the bombings of World War III in 2053 to the distant planet Terralysium, the "New Eden" settlers "cobbled" together a new religion from diverse faiths, including Islam. (DIS: "New Eden")
Other religious figures from Islam include Adam and Eve, Moses, Solomon, the Queen of Sheba, John the Baptist, and Jesus Christ. Often these were discussed in the context of Christianity instead. New Mecca was presumably named for Islam's holy city of Mecca.
