Jack-o'-lantern depicting the USS Cerritos
Jack-o'-lanterns were decorative lanterns made from hollowed-out and carved pumpkins. They were an ancient Earth tradition associated with the holiday of Halloween, and were once believed to keep demons from entering one's home.
In 2382, Beckett Mariner, Brad Boimler, D'Vana Tendi, Sam Rutherford, and T'Lyn held a jack-o'-lantern-making party for Halloween, though T'Lyn was puzzled by the practice of "mutilating gourds". Rutherford's jack-o'-lanterns impressed the others by depicting the USS Cerritos and V'Ger in exact detail. (LD: "Upper Decks")
