James Daris (born 13 November 1933; age 90) played the Creature role in the Star Trek: The Original Series third season episode "Spock's Brain". He filmed his scenes on Tuesday 9 July 1968 at Desilu Stage 10.

Prior to his appearance on Star Trek, he had appeared in I Spy (1966; with Sally Kellerman, Theo Marcuse, and Alex Henteloff), The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1966), F Troop (1966), I Dream of Jeannie (1967), two appearances on Mannix (1967 & 1971; with Joseph Campanella, Charles Drake, and Vic Perrin; & Anthony Caruso, Perry Lopez, and Hal Needham), and an appearance on Bonanza (1968; with Bill Catching).

Following his appearance on Star Trek, Daris made an uncredited appearance in the Dean Martin film The Wrecking Crew (1968; with Bill Couch, Sr., Rex Holman, Carey Loftin, and Byron Morrow) He continued to appear in a number of television series through the mid-1970s, including on Daniel Boone (1968), Land of the Giants (1969; with Richard Carlyle, Steve Marlo, and Don Marshall), Hawaii Five-O (1970), Marcus Wellby, M.D. (1970), Mission: Impossible (1971; with Frank Orsatti, Leonard Nimoy, and William Shatner), Sarge (1971), Nichols (1972), Griff (1973), Banacek (1974), three appearances on Police Story (1974, 1975, 1976; with Tim O'Connor, Marsha Hunt; Brioni Farrell; and Glenn Corbett, Ellen Geer and Sean Kenney), followed by an appearance on Archer (1975). Daris' final television appearance was on the TV movie Sky Heist (1976; with Frank Gorshin, Arch Whiting, Al Wyatt, Ed McCready, Stan Barrett, and appearing again with Bill Catching, Steve Marlo, and Joseph Campanella).

After retiring from acting, Daris married singer Kathy Lennon in 1982.
