James "Jim" R. Lowe (born 2 May 1963; age 62) is a Star Trek fan and founder of the Adirondack's Star Trek fan club USS Tahawus. Due to a letter sent to the production of the talk show Leeza by Cynthia Merrick, Lowe and Merrick were invited to the talk show. They appeared in the episode "Your Wish is My Command", aired on 26 November 1996 and were surprised in the show with a walk-on-role in an upcoming episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Lowe and Merrick appeared as a Bajoran civilian couple in the fifth season episode "The Darkness and the Light". [1]

Lowe, who has been working as hearing instrument specialist for Miracle-Ear, was involved in the production of the fan creation Star Trek: New Voyages. Between 2004 and 2011 he worked as art director and set construction supervisor on six episodes along with James Cawley, Rod Roddenberry, Doug Drexler, and Alec Peters. On the 2006 episode "To Serve All My Days", Lowe worked as associate producer and also appeared in front of the camera as the Federation Ambassador. This episode also features Jeffery Quinn, Walter Koenig, Mary-Linda Rapelye, and Larry Nemecek.

In 2007, Lowe worked as transportation coordinator, set dresser, and set supervisor in New York on the production of Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, another fan project, directed by Tim Russ. This fan film also features Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, Alan Ruck, Garrett Wang, J.G. Hertzler, Gary Graham, Chase Masterson, William Wellman Jr., Crystal Allen, Ethan Phillips, Cirroc Lofton, Lawrence Montaigne, James Cawley, Grace Lee Whitney, Jeffery Quinn, Arlene Martel, Jack Donner, Tania Lemani, Celeste Yarnall, Colleen Harris, and Amy Ulen.
