For the admiral with the same last name, please see Kathryn Janeway.

Ensign Janeway was a sciences division Starfleet officer serving aboard the USS Enterprise-D in 2369. Her duties sometimes involved running diagnostics on the sensor pallets.

Janeway sought counseling from Deanna Troi when she felt her supervisor, Lieutenant Pinder, was overly critical of her performance and went out of his way to find faults with her work. For example, despite it being within specifications, he questioned her allowing a 0.023 variance.

Troi, under the influence of Ambassador Ves Alkar's psychic link, was unsympathetic to the ensign, suggesting the situation was Janeway's fault because she complained too much and wanted to be coddled. She reminded the ensign that she wasn't still attending Starfleet Academy and suggested that Janeway might be better suited to a transport ship.

When Janeway explained that she loved working on the Enterprise, Troi told her to shape up or expect a transfer. Janeway thanked Troi for the advice and said she would do so. (TNG: "Man of the People")

Janeway was played by actress Lucy Boryer.
