Janna Michaels is the actress who played the young Kes in the Star Trek: Voyager third season episode "Before and After".

During the early 1990s, Michaels voiced Molly Cunningham on Disney's popular animated television series TaleSpin, which also featured the voices of R.J. Williams, Tony Jay and Frank Welker. Michaels also played a regular role on the short-lived syndicated sitcom What a Dummy, which starred David Doty. Michaels received nominations from the Young Artist Awards for her work on both of these shows.

In addition, Michaels had small roles in the TV movie Hart to Hart: Home Is Where the Hart Is (with Mitchell Ryan and Brian Cousins) and the family film Little Giants, both released in 1994. In the latter, she played the younger version of the character portrayed by another Voyager guest artist, Susanna Thompson. The film also featured Jon Steuer, Rickey D'Shon Collins, and Mark Holton.

Michaels had supporting roles in the 1995 film Bushwacked and in the 1996 Emmy Award-nominated television drama If These Walls Could Talk. the latter co-starred the likes of Vaughn Armstrong, Mitch David Carter, Robin Gammell, Jack Kehler, Aaron Lustig and Harris Yulin.

Between 1995 and 1997, Michaels had a recurring role as Sara Sheehan on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, on which she worked with fellow Trek alumni Joe Lando, Erika Flores, Chad Allen, Barbara Babcock, Jason Leland Adams, Susanna Thompson, Michelle Bonilla, Frank Collison, Elinor Donahue, and Georgann Johnson. She has not acted in film or television since the 1997 Dr. Quinn episode "A Time to Heal: Part 1."

According to a press release, Michaels was seven years old while working on TaleSpin in 1990, which would place her year of birth at around 1983. However, that same press release incorrectly stated R.J. Williams' age to be fourteen (he was actually twelve at the time). [1] Another source claims Michaels was only five when she began working on TaleSpin, suggesting a birth year of 1985. [2] A user on IMDb claims that Michaels broke away from acting to study film, either directing or producing. [3]
