Crewman Jarvin was a Maquis fighter who served on the raider Val Jean under Chakotay until 2371. In that year, the Val Jean and the USS Voyager were both stranded in the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker's array, and the Val Jean was destroyed when Chakotay rammed it into a Kazon warship while fighting the Kazon-Ogla. As a result, the crew of the Val Jean, Jarvin included, joined the crew of the Voyager as Starfleet personnel and traveled aboard Voyager during its historic trek home through the Delta Quadrant. Later that year Jarvin heard of an altercation between B'Elanna Torres and Joe Carey (both engineers) and grew concerned of the future of the Maquis personnel aboard the ship. He said that he and Seska would support Chakotay if he ever planned to take over Voyager. Chakotay was not impressed, and threatened to throw Jarvin into the brig for mutiny should he ever speak that way again. (VOY: "Parallax")

Chakotay felt that Jarvin was one of the crew members likely to leave the ship to stay on the 37's planet in a conversation between Chakotay and Janeway. This was due to the fact that he had a more difficult time adjusting to the Voyager than most and that he had begun a relationship with another crewmember in quantum mechanics and would want to settle down. Ultimately, however, all crewmembers opted to stay aboard. (VOY: "The 37's")

Jarvin was played by Justin Williams.

The Star Trek Customizable Card Game gives his name as Marquay. Starship Creator calls him William Jarvin.
