The jaw was the skeletal structure around the mouth. Several species had teeth in their jaw. The extension of the upper jaw, which included the premaxilla, was called the cheek; the area where the mandibula, or lower jaw, came together was called the chin. Lifeforms with extremely powerful jaws include velociraptors and alligators.

Relaxing the jaw was part of the surah'tahn and the Khavorta posture, Vulcan neuro-pressure techniques. (ENT: "Rajiin")
