Bezos is one of a number of high profile fans of the franchise. He played Star Trek games as a child and has a model of the USS Enterprise in the HQ of his aeronautical and space research firm Blue Origin. He also claims Amazon's Voice Recognition Program "Alexa" was part inspired by ship's computers.

Bezos turned up on set with a number of bodyguards. Chris Pine confessed he did not recognize him but realized he was someone of importance.
