Jerry Ayres (21 September 193614 May 2013; age 76) was an actor who made two appearances on Star Trek: The Original Series, as two different "redshirts", Ensign O'Herlihy in the first season episode "Arena" and Rizzo in the second season episode "Obsession". Ayres filmed his scenes for "Arena" on Friday 11 November 1966 at the fortress set near Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park and Tuesday 15 November 1966 at Desilu Stage 9. He filmed his scenes for "Obsession" on Thursday 12 October 1967 and Friday 13 October 1967 at Stage 9 and Stage 10.

Ayres was born as Gerald Hoyt Ayres Jr.. He went on to become a regular on the soap operas General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful. He also had a recurring role in the first season of the television drama series Dynasty. He appeared in seven episodes, including the pilot ("Oil") and "The Chaffeur Tells a Secret", both helmed by "Obsession" director Ralph Senensky. The former also featured Peter Mark Richman, Lee Bergere, Ellen Geer, Julie Parrish, and Paul Sorensen.
