Jim Michael (10 November 1932–July 2020; age 87) was an actor who appeared as an Bela's hood #4 in the Star Trek: The Original Series second season episode "A Piece of the Action". As a background performer, he was not credited in the role.
Michael was the son of Albanian immigrants (original surname: Mihali) who had settled in Bridgeport, Connecticut during the 1920s. After working for nearly a decade with two of his older brothers as salesmen in their retail food business, known as Michael Brothers, Michael moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in the motion picture industry, with his first two uncredited television appearances on Zorro (1959).
He made several appearances on Mission: Impossible, featuring Leonard Nimoy and Bob Johnson, appearing in episodes featuring Joseph Ruskin, Lee Bergere, Lee Duncan, Peter Mark Richman, Rudy Solari, Barry Atwater, David Opatoshu, Arlene Martel, Makee K. Blaisdell, Mark Lenard, Arthur Batanides, Vic Perrin, Charles Napier, Barbara Anderson, Robert Mandan, Hal Needham, Joanna Cassidy, Tony Young, Jack Donner, and Max Kleven. [1] Aside from his nine Mission: Impossible appearances, he appeared as various character on several occasions in a number of other series including Kojack, Gunsmoke, The Big Valley, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Batman, and The Lawless Years.
While the body of Michael's work typically consisted of roles such as random henchmen, patrons, guests, or restaurant/bar staff, one of his only named character appearance was that of "Tony No Nose" in the film Mobsters, which also featured several Star Trek alumni, including Christian Slater, F. Murray Abraham, Seymour Cassel, Jennifer Gatti, Frank Collison, Steve Picerni, Billy Bastiani, Titus Welliver, Willie Garson, Charles Picerni, Jr., and Nick Dimitri.
