Lieutenant Johnson was a male Human Starfleet officer who lived during the mid-23rd century. He served in the operations division aboard the USS Enterprise under Captain James T. Kirk, during a historic five-year mission that starship undertook. He served as one of the ship's security officers.
In 2268, Johnson was injured during a fight with the Klingons, when they attacked and were subsequently brought aboard the Enterprise. Later, he was healed by the Beta XII-A entity because the entity needed his violent thoughts. Like the rest of the crew, he was manipulated by the alien entity. (TOS: "Day of the Dove")

Background information[]
Johnson was portrayed by David L. Ross.
There were plans to rename this character Galloway, the name of a similar recurring character that Ross usually played in Star Trek: The Original Series; a note written on 20 August 1968 noted the name change, pointing out that references to "Johnson" in the revised final draft of the script were to be replaced with "Galloway".
In James Blish's adaptation of "Day of the Dove" (in Star Trek 11), this character is identified by Ross' alter ego, Galloway.
In the novel Pawns and Symbols, Johnson was given the first name Rusty, while in the novel That Which Divides, he was called Ross.
