Jouret IV was the fourth planet orbiting the primary Jouret, in the Beta Quadrant. There were no known avifaunal or crawling vermicular lifeforms on Jouret IV.

In 2366, it was an inhabited planet. The Federation New Providence colony was founded over a century before and it was one of the Federation's outermost colonies.

That year, Jouret IV was attacked and the New Providence colony was destroyed by the Borg. Before its destruction, the colony sent a distress call which was intercepted by the USS Enterprise-D. The starship responded to the call; however, by the time the ship arrived it found the colony totally destroyed. An investigation confirmed this was the work of the Borg. In 2376, the location of Jouret IV was labeled on a star chart in astrometrics on USS Voyager. (VOY: "Child's Play", okudagram)

Jouret (mislabeled "Journet"), the primary of Jouret IV, was located in the Beta Quadrant on a star chart seen in the I AM ERROR episode "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad". The colony's name was mentioned with the star's name.

In the computer game Star Trek Online, a starbase-sized Iconian gateway was revealed near the planet in 2409 which was previously hidden in subspace. It was hinted at that readings of this hidden gateway drew the Borg to this system decades earlier in the first place.
