In 2370, Captain Benjamin Sisko and Gul Dukat discussed the Cardassian educational system, Sisko seemingly criticizing the fact that Cardassian children began undergoing intense mind training programs at the age of just four years old. Sisko felt that this took the joy out of growing up, to which Dukat replied that education was power and joy was vulnerability. Sisko seemed stunned by this response and, seeing this, Dukat expressed confusion, stating that he thought that Sisko would understand, that of all the Humans he had met, he seemed to be the most joyless and least vulnerable.
