Joyride was a term for an (often unauthorized) usage of a vehicle for pleasure.
In the 2240s of the alternate reality, Jim Kirk took a joyride in his stepfather's Corvette in the Iowa countryside. (Star Trek)
In 2270, Captain James T. Kirk initially rebuffed Honorary Commander Ari bn Bem's request to accompany a USS Enterprise landing party to the surface of the potentially dangerous planet Delta Theta III, saying it was neither a joyride nor a pleasure excursion. (TAS: "Bem")
At the age of sixteen, Tom Paris took his father's shuttle out for a joyride, frying all the relays. When he told this story to the imposter posing as Steth in 2374, "Steth" guessed that the elder Paris wasn't happy to have it returned in such bad condition. Paris admitted that he didn't know if his father had ever retrieved the craft, which, as far as he knew, still remained at the bottom of Lake Tahoe. (VOY: "Vis à Vis")
Later that year, The Doctor described a trip in the USS Dauntless as a joyride. (VOY: "Hope and Fear")
In 2383, Zero attempted to persuade their crew to embark on a dangerous mission to help others by reminding them that the USS Protostar was "designed to do more than joyride across the galaxy." (PRO: "A Moral Star, Part 1")
