A bottle of kali-fal

Kali-fal was a very aromatic Rihannsu beverage that was said to forcibly open one's sinuses well before the first sip. It was blue in color.

In 2374, Captain Benjamin Sisko offered Senator Vreenak a glass of replicated kali-fal, which the senator found to be a "fair approximation" but "somewhat lacking in aroma." (DS9: "In the Pale Moonlight")

Background information

The script of "In the Pale Moonlight" gave the pronunciation of this drink as "KAL-eh-fall". [1]

Kali-fal appears in a number of non-canon works.

In the Star Trek: Enterprise novel Beneath the Raptor's Wing, both Romulan admiral Valdore and Tal Shiar member T'Luadh enjoyed a glass of kali-fal. Valdore liked to savor the "pungent" aroma of the liquid prior to drinking it.

The Star Trek: Section 31 novel Rogue, set in 2373, reveals Cortan Zweller and Koval to be drinkers of kali-fal.

Montgomery Scott is said to have consumed many a glass of Scotch, Saurian brandy, and genuine kali-fal in an attempt to forget an order given by Admiral Alynna Nechayev in the Star Trek: Starfleet Corps of Engineers eBook The Future Begins, in 2375.

In the Star Trek: Typhon Pact novel Plagues of Night, the Cardassian Denison Morad orders kali-fal in a bar in Relvanek on Dessica II in the year 2383.

The drink also appears in the video game Star Trek Online as an uncommon consumable capable of healing the player out of combat. The game describes the drink as an aromatic, potent blue beverage that can be served warm.
