Kalpana Chawla was a 20th century American astronaut in NASA's Space Shuttle program. She was a crewmember on mission STS-107.

This mission ended in disaster when the space shuttle Columbia (OV-102) broke up on reentry. (PIC: "Two of One")

In 2143, the assignment patch for this mission was on display in the 602 Club. This patch bore the astronaut's last name. (ENT: "First Flight")

By 2401, Starfleet had a starship named USS Chawla, which may have been named after this individual. (PIC: "Võx")
