Kavi Raz (born 1 January 1953; age 71) is the actor who played Assistant Chief Engineer Lieutenant junior grade Singh in the Star Trek: The Next Generation first season episode "Lonely Among Us". He also auditioned for the role of Data.
His previous television credits include guest appearances on M*A*S*H (with fellow Next Generation guest star David Ogden Stiers), The A-Team (starring frequent Next Generation actor Dwight Schultz and Next Generation guest star Lance LeGault), Hardcastle and McCormick (starring Brian Keith and Daniel Hugh Kelly in the title roles), the pilot episode for Our House (starring Chad Allen, another Next Generation guest actor), St. Elsewhere (starring William Daniels, Ed Begley, Jr., Norman Lloyd, Christina Pickles, France Nuyen, Jennifer Savidge, Alfre Woodard, and Jane Wyatt), and an episode of The Colbys (with Bruce Gray and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine actress Nana Visitor). Following his role on The Next Generation, he went on to appear with Daniel Benzali, Corbin Bernsen, and Larry Drake in an episode of L.A. Law, with Benzali, David Clennon, and Susan Diol in an episode of The Agency, with James Sloyan in an episode of Dark Justice, with Zach Grenier and Barry Wiggins in an episode of Robbery Homicide Division, and with Miguel Ferrer, Andrea Martin and Star Trek: Voyager actor Robert Picardo in an episode of Crossing Jordan. He also appeared in two episodes of NYPD Blue (including one in 1995 with Bill Bolender, Michael Reilly Burke, Gordon Clapp, Sharon Lawrence, and William Lucking), and JAG (with David Andrews, Scott Lawrence, and Zoe McLellan).
He has also appeared in a number of feature films, the first being Warning Sign (1985, co-starring Jerry Hardin and Keith Szarabajka). In 1989, he co-starred with fellow Next Generation performer Denise Crosby and frequent Trek guest star Brad Greenquist in Pet Sematary. His other film credits include Terminal Entry (1986), All I Want for Christmas (1991, with Andrea Martin), and Albert Brooks' Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World (2005, with John Carroll Lynch). His made-for-TV movie credits include Under Siege (1986, with David Opatoshu, Fritz Weaver, and Paul Winfield), The Taking of Flight 847 (1988, with Wren T. Brown and Ray Wise), and Shooter (also 1988, with Rosalind Chao, Alan Ruck, and Noble Willingham).
