The Kellerun were a spacefaring humanoid species native to the planet Kellerun.
History[]
In 2370, the war between the Kellerun and their neighboring enemies, the T'Lani, had just ended. The war had been marked by the use of a deadly virus, known as the Harvester weapon. Both sides were determined to keep the hard fought peace they now enjoyed and decided to remove all records of the virus. This meant killing the scientists who designed it, as well as two Starfleet officers from Deep Space 9, Chief Miles O'Brien and Doctor Julian Bashir, who had been sent to help destroy the last vials of the virus. Fortunately, the two were rescued by the crew of Deep Space 9 before the T'Lani and the Kellerun could kill them. (DS9: "Armageddon Game")
A Kellerun named Rayner served in Starfleet during the 32nd century. (DIS: "Red Directive")
For a number of years in the late 32nd century, Kellerun was used as a Breen outpost. The planet was controlled by Primarch Tahal. The Breen showed up with no warning and chose the planet as a forward base and munitions resupply hub. The planet's forests were clear cut, the seas poisoned, and the sky blackened. It is unknown how many Kelleruns died during this time fighting the Breen. Rayner lost his entire family who were executed for fighting against Tahal at the Twin Gates with Tahal only sparing him because she was impressed by how he fought "almost like a Breen." (DIS: "Erigah")
Biology[]
The Kelleruns were distinguished by enlarged and pointed ears, similar to but slightly different from those of the T'Lani. (DS9: "Armageddon Game"; DIS: "Red Directive")
Society and culture[]
In the 24th century, Kelleruns tended to wear their hair in a topknot bun. (DS9: "Armageddon Game")
The Ballad of Krul was a classic of Kellerun literature. (DIS: "Mirrors")
Kellerun boiled their cakes. One of their beverages was Kellerun citrus mash. (DIS: "Mirrors")
