Kemp Powers (born 30 October 1973; age 51) is the American author, playwright, actor and writer who worked as staff writer on the first five episodes of Star Trek: Discovery's first season. He also wrote the episode "Choose Your Pain".

In addition to Star Trek he wrote for This Day Today (2012) and appeared in the drama Fight Your Way Out (2017, with Carlos Carrasco and Gina Hecht).

In 2013, his award-winning play One Night in Miami premiered. Future Discovery alum David Ajala played the role of Jim Brown in the play's London debut in 2016. Among his other plays are The Two Reds, Little Black Shadows and Christa McAuliffe's Eyes Were Blue. In 2016, he was the playwright-in-residence at the Colorado New Play Summit; he is currently a playwright at the Los Angeles-based Rogue Machine Theatre and a member of the playwright collective The Temblors.
