The Kenfori Agricultural Research Facility, or K.A.R.F., was a Federation research facility on Kenfori. The facility included a number of laboratories as well as a communication array and a landing pad. It operated under the Federation Science Bureau.
The facility researched the possible hybridization of the chimera blossom with food sources such as wheat and an aggressive perennial moss in order to make a "supercrop".
The facility was lost when the world was invaded by Klingons during the Federation-Klingon War (2256-57). During the attack, safety protocols failed and the chimera agent infected both the researchers and the invading Klingons, fusing them with the moss genome. This turned both sides into "zombies" which attempted to devour any living animal to further proliferate the moss. Before being exposed, the facility's chancellor ordered unexposed personnel to be sequestered to the rooftop to wait for help, and recommended that the planet be abandoned.

In 2261, the facility was explored by Captain Christopher Pike, Doctor Joseph M'Benga, and Bytha, who discovered the rooftop with a force field generator and many zombies but no survivors. (SNW: "Shuttle to Kenfori")
