Lieutenant Kinis, a Vulcan junior officer at Starfleet Academy, was the role played by a member of Species 8472 in training program.
He took part in the training aboard Terrasphere 8 created by Species 8472 in the Delta Quadrant in 2375. They were preparing for a possible invasion into Federation space. The Kinis re-creation served as an aide to the re-creation of Admiral Bullock and handed PADD's with assignments to the re-creations of Larsen, Young, and Reiskin. (VOY: "In the Flesh")
Kinis was played by recurring background actor Dieter Hornemann who received no credit for this appearance.
Hornemann filmed his scenes on Tuesday 7 July 1998 and Wednesday 8 July 1998 on location at the Japanese Garden at the Tillman Water Reclamation Plant and is listed as "Vulcan" along with Bethanne Joyner on the call sheets. He was identified by name in dialogue.
It is unclear if Kinis was real or if Species 8472 created the persona. The Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 419) described the persona created by Species 8472 as a re-creation of Lieutenant Kinis.
