Klaestron IV was the inhabited fourth planet of its star system and the homeworld of the Klaestrons, a warp-capable humanoid species. The planet was unified under a single government from a capital city. An extradition treaty existed between the governments of Klaestron IV and the Federation; however, Klaestron IV had no extradition treaty with Bajor.
In the 24th century, the planet was witness to the Klaestron Civil War. During the civil war, the capital city was the location of a military headquarters. In 2339, General Ardelon Tandro was ambushed and killed on the route from the capital to the front. Subsequently, he was elevated to national hero and his enraged troops ended the war with a victory. A lasting result of the civil was that statues of the general were erected at many place on the planet.
Outside the capital, there was an inn where Curzon Dax and Enina Tandro spent some time. (DS9: "Dax")
In 2371, Julian Bashir visited Klaestron IV to learn a new treatment for burn victims. According to him, the technology had to be seen to be believed. (DS9: "Second Skin")
