The Klingon Oversight Council was a body of the Klingon Defense Forces that approved Klingons to become officers. Their approval was considered to be a formality.
Kor was a member of the Oversight Council in the 2340s. In 2345, he rejected the application of Martok. (DS9: "Once More Unto the Breach")
In 2382, the Oversight Council was comprised of Bargh (the leader), K'orin, and Enaj. Bargh, upset over the death of his brother Dorg, barred Ma'ah from regaining his captaincy after he lost it by the mutiny of his crew on the IKS Che'Ta'. Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler, also being stonewalled by Bargh while investigating quantum fissures, convinced Ma'ah to invoke the Ritual of J'ethurgh to regain his captaincy with the rest of the council ultimately supporting Ma'ah's actions out of disgust for Bargh's dishonorable tactics. Following a duel, Ma'ah slew Bargh and regained his position, although Ma'ah chose not to return to the Che'Ta'. (LD: "A Farewell To Farms")
