Background information Edit

Information on this class designation was originally derived from an okudagram described as a starship mission status that was displayed in the observation lounge starting around TNG Season 4 and was originally described in the Star Trek Encyclopedia.

This class was "named for spacecraft designer Sergey Pavlovich Korolev, a key figure in the early Russian space program." (Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 307))

There was no connection between this class and the USS Korolev in 2293, as the latter was a Constitution-class starship.
