The Kosinski scale was the proposed name of a new measurement of a starship's velocity. This was suggested in 2364 as a result of experimental modifications made to the warp drive of the USS Enterprise-D.

The modifications resulted in the ship traveling to the galaxy known as M-33, over 2,700,000 light years away from the Milky Way Galaxy in a very brief amount of time. After the purported creator of the modifications, Kosinski, declared that new parameters would be needed to measure speed, his name was suggested by Enterprise chief engineer Lieutenant Commander Argyle as the name of the new scale. However, when it was found that the being known as The Traveler was actually responsible for the ship's travel, and that Kosinski's ideas were bogus, the name was rendered moot. The Traveler implied Kosinski's belief that he was helping was in fact actually manifesting and contributing to the Traveler's abilities. (TNG: "Where No One Has Gone Before")
