Olly with a lightning bolt
A lightning bolt was a stylized representation of lightning.
In 2365, visiting Bringloidi triggered USS Enterprise-D's fire suppression system when they set fires to cook food, the results of which Danilo Odell described as "a bloody death trap! Lightning bolts falling from the ceiling!" Later, he asked for Worf's help in finding a way to heat their poteen "without this bloody ship firing bloody lightning bolts at us." (TNG: "Up The Long Ladder")
Ensign Olly, the demigod granddaughter of Zeus, inherited from him the ability to absorb energy and use it to create lightning bolt constructs. However, these constructs were not very powerful, capable of delivering only a moderate electric shock at most. In 2382, Olly attempted to stop the shape war between the Orbs and Cubes by draining their energy, which overloaded her and caused her to launch a multitude of lightning bolts. One of the bolts became lodged in Lieutenant jg Brad Boimler's anus, requiring Doctor T'Ana to devise a unique procedure to remove it. (LD: "Of Gods and Angles")
Later that year, Olly hit Relga's Bird-of-Prey with a massive lightning bolt, which she generated using the energy of a quantum fissure's Schrödinger possibility field, draining the ship's shields. (LD: "The New Next Generation")
