Female inhabitants
These female inhabitants had been contaminated by an Earth probe called Friendship 1. The probe caused radiation sickness and a nuclear winter.
In 2377, these females were part of the group of poisoned natives who were discovered by a Voyager away team. The natives held the away team, including Neelix, Tom Paris, and Joe Carey, as hostages until the Otrin took over the command of the group. These females cared for Brin during her childbirth. (VOY: "Friendship One")

He held Tom Paris, Neelix, and Joe Carey hostage under orders of Verin, the leader of the group and reported that a second away team appeared on the surface. (VOY: "Friendship One")
Male inhabitants
These males were affected by radiation poisoning due to contamination by an Earth probe called Friendship 1. The probe caused radiation sickness. They took Tom Paris, Neelix, and Joe Carey hostage and fought against a second away team from Voyager until Otrin became their new leader and opened their eyes. (VOY: "Friendship One")
