Ensign Livik was a Human who served as a Starfleet engineer aboard the USS Cerritos in the late 24th century.
Livik was assigned to the Cerritos in 2381, and immediately began effecting minor improvements in pursuit of a promotion. He decreased the vibration in the warp manifold by a factor of 0.6, devised a means of adding a third Tucker tube without triggering a Heisenberg collapse (naming the result "Billups tubes"), and diffused heat conduction in the Jefferies tubes by a few nanojoules. In the process, he preempted several attempts by Ensign Sam Rutherford to accomplish the same.
Lieutenant Commander Andy Billups soon decided to recognize Livik's efforts by elevating him to lieutenant junior grade. However, during Livik's pip ceremony, D'Vana Tendi asked Billups if Rutherford could accept one of the promotions that he had previously turned down. Billups agreed and gave Rutherford the rank pip instead, telling Livik "maybe next time." This earned Rutherford and Tendi Livik's ire. (LD: "I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee")
Livik was among those telepathically affected by Lieutenant jg T'Lyn's emotional turmoil, causing him to fight Ensign Gary in the ship's bar. (LD: "Empathological Fallacies")
Later in 2381, Livik disagreed with Rutherford on the best approach to repairing the Orion destroyer Retribution. At T'Lyn's suggestion, the two resolved their dispute by both dressing up as Mark Twain and discussing their issues on a holodeck recreation of the A.B. Chambers, an approach Rutherford had previously used to settle an argument with Brad Boimler. However, Livik and Rutherford remained personally at odds. (LD: "Old Friends, New Planets")
Alternate realities and timelines[]
In a parallel universe visited by the Cerritos of the prime universe in 2382, an alternate USS Cerritos containing different versions of its crew members, including Livik, was encountered. This alternate version of Livik was paired with his prime universe counterpart, which neither of them appeared to like. Additionally, the alternate Livik stood at attention when Captain Becky Freeman walked past them in the hallway, accidentally blocking the path of the prime Livik, who was moving an anti-grav sled at the time. (LD: "Dos Cerritos")
Livik was voiced by Nolan North.
