A long-range tachyon scanner was a tachyon-based sensor technology capable of detecting cloaked vessels at extreme distances.
In 2375, a fleet of ten Jem'Hadar fighters utilized such a scanner to track a group of Klingon Birds-of-Prey that were returning to Federation space after conducting a cavalry raid behind Dominion lines. This was the first time the Dominion was observed to use the technology. (DS9: "Once More Unto the Breach")
