The facility was used as a filming location for the underground scenes of the Ocampan homeworld in the Star Trek: Voyager premiere episode "Caretaker". [1]

In Captains' Logs Supplemental - The Unauthorized Guide to the New Trek Voyages (p. 134), use of the LACC was considered "inspired", with David Livingston quoted: "When you get an I.M. Pei building that's worth a couple hundred million dollars, that's pretty good production value... I told [production designer] Richard James if he won the Emmy, he would have to share it with I.M. Pei."

Filming at this location took place on Tuesday 20 September 1994 and Wednesday 21 September 1994. It represented the Ocampa courtyard, the corridors, and the eating area. Due to re-shoots, an additional day of filming took place on Monday 12 December 1994. J. Lowe and Lisa White worked as location managers for this location and Barbara Pace as LACC contact. Filming took place on the second and third level near the south lobby of the center.

The convention center has also been used as a location for several other film and television productions such as Starsky & Hutch, The A-Team, Bones, Revenge, Grey's Anatomy, Veep, Supergirl, Silicon Valley, S.W.A.T., New Girl, Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, Transparent, CSI: Miami, Lethal Weapon, Parks and Recreation, Ballers, Westworld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Demolition Man (1993), Rising Sun (1993), The Puppet Masters (1994), The Net (1995), Showgirls (1995), Face/Off (1997), Starship Troopers (1997), Rush Hour (1998), Old School (2003), Gone Girl (2014), Interstellar (2014), and Ted 2 (2015).
