Captain Maddox was a male Terran Imperial Starfleet officer in the mid-23rd century. He was the commanding officer of the ISS Charon. During his career, he was awarded medals for valor, 100 Kills, and surviving a mortal wound.
After Michael Burnham reclaimed command of the ISS Shenzhou, Maddox gave her first orders – she was to destroy the alien insurgent camp on Harlak. In the process, she would be killing the leader of the alien insurgents, Voq (otherwise known as "Fire Wolf"). (DIS: "The Wolf Inside")
Maddox had a sister named Ava, who had a past relationship with Gabriel Lorca. Maddox was keen on personally torturing Lorca (who was held captive on board the Charon) to avenge his sister. Lorca eventually escaped from the agony booth and killed Maddox. (DIS: "Vaulting Ambition")
