A magnesium charge

A magnesium charge was a ship-launched explosive device containing magnesium.

Cleveland Booker and Michael Burnham had devised a maneuver, which they called the Breen gambit, to blind the sensors of an opposing vessel by igniting a hydrogen cloud with a magnesium charge. Booker used this tactic against pirates in 3188 and against the USS Discovery in 3190. (DIS: "Rubicon")
