Margot Farley Stuart (born 28 May 1978; age 46) is the actress who played a stenographer for the Starfleet Academy council in 2009's Star Trek, directed and produced by J.J. Abrams. She had a supporting role in Cloverfield (2008), which was also produced by Abrams.
Farley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. She landed her first television role in 2003 on a pilot for ABC called The Flannerys, starring Star Trek: Deep Space Nine guest actor Jeffrey Nordling. Farley's Star Trek co-star, Pavel Lychnikoff, also had a role in this pilot, but it was not picked up as a series. On stage, Farley has performed in productions of the musicals Mame and Bye Bye Birdie as part of the Park Avenue Players.
She has collaborated with writer/director David Mamet on several occasions. She appeared in Spartan (2004, with Steven Culp, Matt Malloy, David Paymer and Natalia Nogulich). Mamet also directed Farley in an episode of the FX crime drama series The Shield that same year. In 2006, Farley had a recurring role on Mamet's CBS drama series The Unit, on which Star Trek: Enterprise guest star Abby Brammell was a regular. Farley returned to this series for one episode in 2007, playing a different character.
In addition, Farley had a supporting role in the 2005 independent film Dual, which was named Best Independent Action Film at the Long Beach Action on Film International Film Festival. She then played the lead role in the 2007 independent film God's Ears for which she won the Action on Film Award at the Action on Film International Film Festival.
More recent credits include the television science fiction film War Wolves (2009, with Adrienne Barbeau), the war drama Fort McCoy (2011, with Seymour Cassel and Mark Metcalf), an episode of Revenge (2011), and the comedy Bring Me the Head of Lance Henriksen (2016, with Adrienne Barbeau and Marjean Holden).
