Mark Reilly (born 3 October 1963; age 61) is a camera operator who worked in the camera department of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise. His name was featured on set artwork seen in the Enterprise episodes "Affliction" and "Demons".
In 2020, Reilly commented in the International Cinematographers Guild Magazine in the article "Star Trek Then and Now" about his work on Enterprise, "We were one of the first TV shows to switch over from film to HD, and I may have been one of the first [AC's] to pull focus using a monitor at Marvin's cart. Up to that point, I normally worked at the camera with a Preston for flexibility, as we would regularly change camera configurations – going from handheld to crane. But the new Sony F900, and the improved video monitoring capabilities – Marvin used a 24-inch Apple monitor – compared to a video tap on film cameras, was a huge improvement. I would sit with my Preston on an apple box at Marvin's monitor cart as he would say, "Follow the ball." He also liked the ability to tweak exposure or sneak in a zoom with a whisper. Of course, it took some getting used to, but I enjoyed pulling focus on a large screen and immediately knowing if we got the shot. The biggest challenge was learning the new camera menu and systems, and then adapting that for our many shooting modes." [1]
On the set of Deep Space Nine he met background actress and stand-in Robin Morselli. The two married on 19 January 1997 and on 3 December 1997 she gave birth to their son, Christopher Reilly who also became an actor.
Reilly has worked in the camera department since 1992. Among his work as camera operator and assistant are Beverly Hills, 90210 (1999-2000), Big Love (2006), New Girl (2011-2012), and Nashville (2012-2017). He also worked on For Better or Worse (1995, starring and directed by Jason Alexander), The Amati Girls (2000), Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006), Pig Hunt (2008), Middle Men (2009, with Kelsey Grammer), the short drama Blind Faith (2010), Honey 2 (2011), Meeting Evil (2012), Bat Romance (2012), the short film Girl of My Dreams (2017, co-starring his son), and the reboot Nash Bridges (2021).
