Mark Russell (born 1 February 1929; age 95) is an actor who portrayed one of the Vulcan litter bearers in the Star Trek: The Original Series second season episode "Amok Time". He received no credit for this appearance.
Russell started his acting career as a background performer in The Best Man in 1964 and is probably best known as Detective Saperstein in the television series Kojak (1973-1978), a role which he reprised in 1985 for the television movie Kojak: The Belarus File.
He had a recurring role in three episodes of The Fugitive (1966-1967, with Jason Wingreen, Kim Darby, and William Windom) and appeared mostly without a credit in the series I Dream of Jeannie (1967, with Vince Howard), Hogan's Heroes (1968), The F.B.I. (1969, with Robert Hooks), Mannix (1969), McCloud (1970, with Diana Muldaur and Marj Dusay), and Mission: Impossible (1971, with regular Leonard Nimoy). Russell portrayed supporting roles in the drama Airport (1970, with Whit Bissell, William Boyett, and Celia Lovsky), Assault on the Wayne (1971, with Leonard Nimoy, William Winom, and Malachi Throne), the television drama Emergency! (1972, starring Kevin Tighe), and the television special The Six Million Dollar Man: Wine, Women and War (1973, with Alan Oppenheimer, Joseph Hindy, and Bob Minor), followed by several background roles in the television series Emergency! (1972-1974).
Further credits include guest roles in Hawaii Five-O (1978), Eischied (1979, with Alan Oppenheimer), Nero Wolfe (1981, with Allan Miller), and Quincy, M.E. (1982, with John Anderson, Anne Haney, and Albert Henderson), and the role of a Bar Fighter in Raw Justice (1994, with Charles Napier).
As of 2024, Russell lives a quiet life in Aurora, Colorado. [1]
