Martis was an Ocampan female, wife of Benaren and mother of Kes.
She gave birth to Kes in 2370. Kes would relive the experience of her birth during her jumps backwards in time due to chroniton radiation poisoning. Her mother always wanted to live above ground, which influenced Kes' decision to leave the Ocampan city and ultimately join Voyager. (VOY: "Before and After")
