Mary McCusker (born 29 May 1949; age 75) is the actress who appeared as a nurse in the Star Trek: The Next Generation third season episode "Evolution". Some filmed scenes with her were cut from the final aired episode, because of time's sake.
McCusker studied acting at the Boston Conservatory of Music, graduated from the Neighborhood Playhouse, [1] and started her acting career in the early '70s when she had guest roles in the television series Play for Today (1971, with Maurice Roëves). In the following years she had supporting roles in Tunnel Vision (1976, with Gerrit Graham and William Schallert), Cracking Up (1977, with Michael McKean and Leslie Ackerman), the thriller The Border (1979), and the television drama The Ordeal of Patty Hearst (1979, with Jonathan Banks and Star Trek voice casting agent Barbara Harris).
In the '80s, she portrayed guest roles in episodes of CHiPs (1980, with Robert Pine), Knight Rider (1983, starring William Daniels and Patricia McPherson), Bay City Blues (1983, starring Michael Nouri), Remington Steele (1985, starring Pierce Brosnan, with William Frankfather and Harry Groener), Highway to Heaven (1984 and 1986, along Georgia Schmidt), and St. Elsewhere (1987, starring William Daniels, Norman Lloyd, Ed Begley, Jr., Christina Pickles, and Bruce Greenwood).
Her feature film credits include The Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981, with Henry Gibson, John Glover, Betty McGuire, and David Ruprecht), Jekyll and Hyde... Together Again (1982, with Michael Ensign), Malice in Wonderland (1985, with Leslie Ackerman, Denise Crosby, Mark L. Taylor, Jason Wingreen and Anne Haney), and Turner & Hooch (1989, starring Tom Hanks, with Kenneth Tigar, Clyde Kusatsu, Nick Dimitri and Jim Beaver).
In the '90s, McCusker focused on her acting coach career and appeared in a handful of productions, including The Client (1994), The Cure (1995), Doctor Finlay (1996), and Trojan War (1997, with Allan Graf and Jake Sakson).
McCusker has worked as acting and dialogue coach for several teenage and child actors such as Seth Adkins in ...First Do No Harm (1997), Malcolm Stumpf in The Next Best Thing (2000), and for the Jonas Brothers on the television pilot J.O.N.A.S! (2009). Other acting coach credits include The Client (1994), Operation Dumbo Drop (1995), Tom and Huck (1995), Sleepers (1996), Paulie (1998), Mafia! (1998), Malcolm in the Middle (for seven years), The Bernie Mac Show, and Nip/Tuck.
