Sculpture, In the cards

The auctioned sculpture

The Matoian movement was a school of classical sculpture that eventually succeeded the eventualistic movement.

A post-eventualistic, pre-Matoian bronze and triptin sculpture was found on an old derelict freighter in 2373, and subsequently auctioned at Quark's. It was sold to a Bolian man for one bar and three strips of latinum. (DS9: "In the Cards")

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 26), Matoian was: a "noted sculptor whose work became a recognized style".
