Michael Copeman (born 11 October 1950; age 74) is an actor who played Doctor Vellek in the Star Trek: Discovery fifth season episode "Red Directive".
Copeman was born in Rhineback, New York, USA, but has been living in Canada for over four decades. A very prolific character actor, he amassed over 130 film and television credits.
These include bit and supporting parts in films such as David Cronenberg's The Fly (1986), Dead of Winter (1987, starring Roddy McDowall), Canadian Bacon (1995, with Wallace Shawn), Fly Away Home (1996), Bless the Child (2000), The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007), and Filth City (2017, with Melanie Nicholls-King and Hannah Spear).
He appeared in guest roles on series such as War of the Worlds (with Ric Sarabia, directed by Allan Eastman), Goosebumps, Relic Hunter (starring Lindy Booth), Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye, Mutant X, The Dresden Files (starring Conrad Coates, with Simon Northwood), Heartland, Being Erica (with Melanie Scrofano), and Murdoch Mysteries (with Simon Northwood).
In 2017, he played a recurring role in When Hope Calls, starring Morgan Kohan. In 2023-24, he played a recurring role in Fargo, with Paul McGillion and Conrad Coates.
