Michael Eugene Fairman is a former actor who played the Bajoran vendor in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine first season episode "In the Hands of the Prophets". Since 21 January 2010, Fairman is legally known as Marie Michael Fairman following her transgender idenfication.
Fairman attended the Purdue University and earned a degree in Stage Production, an MA in Media Production and an MFA in Acting from the University of New Orleans, and a BFA in Theatre from the University of Evensville. Throughout her career, she worked as actor, singer, screenwriter, director, production stage manager, and professional producer. Until 1998, she worked as Artistic Director for The Actor's Company in Burbank, California. Between 2005 and 2009, Fairman was the Assistant Director of Production at the Kodak Theatre where she worked as backstage manager on over 200 shows including the 78th, 79th, 80th, and 81st Annual Academy Awards. Since 2009, she is working as president for "Marie in Motion" in West Hollywood, California.
Beside Star Trek, Fairman worked as featured actor on episodes of The Oldest Rookie (1987, starring Paul Sorvino and Patrick Cronin), Mad About You (1992, with Anne Elizabeth Ramsay and Tommy Hinkley), and General Hospital as well as the 1991 horror comedy Bloodsucking Pharaohs in Pittsburgh, with Jake Dengel. In addition, she worked as assistant director on Richard Attenborough's Academy Award nominated drama Chaplin in 1992.
For The Actor's Company, Fairman worked as director and stage actor on plays such as "Come and Hear Senator Huey P. Long", "The Living Newspaper", "Town Meeting", "Driving Miss Daisy", and "Fools".
