Real World article
(written from a Production point of view)

Michael McMahan is a writer and author. A long-time Star Trek fan, McMahan wrote the Star Trek: Short Treks episode "The Escape Artist". [1] He is the head writer, creator, and an executive producer of Star Trek: Lower Decks, an animated half-hour comedy series on CBS All Access.

McMahan is also the creator and maintainer of the @TNG_S8 Twitter account, which provides satirical outlines of episodes in a fictitious eighth season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. This work led to the commissioning of the reference book Star Trek: The Next Generation - Warped, which turned those outlines into a fully-fledged "episode guide".

McMahan has worked on a number of animated series, including South Park, Drawn Together, Out There, Axe Cop, and Rick and Morty.
