During his Starfleet career, Jean-Luc Picard led an away team on this planet to save an ambassador. This incident was mentioned by Q in 2369 as one of the crucial events forming Picard's personality. (TNG: "Tapestry")
This event may or may not have taken place before 2333, when Picard became captain of the USS Stargazer.
In 2371, the location of Milika III was labeled on a star chart Data and Picard were studying in stellar cartography aboard the USS Enterprise-D. (Star Trek Generations, display graphic)
